Beautiful Reem and handsome Ferdinand–according to their photographer Emily Alyssa Photography–“wanted an adventure” when it came to the concept of their engagement session. The pair settled on heading to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia for the remarkable views and the “on top of the world” feelings you only get when you’re in the presence of mountains.
How did you meet?
We met on an online dating app. I was living in San Diego at the time, while he was in the DC area. After two months of talking, he flew out to San Diego to meet me and after 6 months of visiting back and forth, I moved to the DC area.
What is your proposal story?
One of my very first visits to the DC area, Ferdinand surprised me at the airport with a sunflower as he knew it was one of my favorite flowers. He insisted on taking me to a surprise location on the way to his place. He was taking me to a sunflower fields, however it was too late and the field was filled with dead sunflowers. He was devastated that his plan failed and made sure I would see the sunflower fields in Poolsville the following year.
A year later, the reminder showed up on his phone to check the bloom of the sunflowers. We were so excited and headed out to see the sunflowers after work the next day. They were in perfect bloom and to my surprise he got down on one knee and proposed in the field of sunflowers.
