NOLA City Park Engagement Session

Faith and Ryan’s outdoor engagement session photos have such a fresh and exciting feel about them. The NOLA natives strolled through the city park as Tisha Simon shot the beautiful weeping willow landscape behind them. The bright and airy light on these pictures perfectly reflect the cheery look on their faces and we couldn’t be happier for the couple.

How did you meet?

We actually started talking on Facebook. We didn’t know each other prior to that, but on our first date, we found out that we had a ton of mutual friends growing up!

What is your proposal story?

It was on Christmas Eve. We were two days away from flying to Jersey City to visit Ryan’s brothers (which was so exciting because I had never been out of the South). He knew that I had been hoping for a proposal, but said that he was just planning on getting me a promise ring for Christmas. I was in the bathroom brushing my hair, and he gets home and goes, “Do you want your gift?” .. and I’m like, well of course! So he goes down to the car, runs back up the stairs and taps me on the shoulder – keep in mind we’re still in the bathroom – and he opens the box and asks me to marry him! I was so shocked and so ecstatic! Later, he told me he planned to propose in New York City, but he was so excited he couldn’t wait, and I’m actually happy he asked the way he did – it makes me laugh and it’s totally us!

Tell us about the ring/band.

The ring is a round “cluster” style engagement ring in white gold; it is truly the most beautiful ring I’ve ever laid my eyes on! The setting of small diamonds clustered together sparkles so perfectly and it just sits so well on my finger. The crazy thing is, he had no idea that I wanted that style! I’ve always loved the clustered diamond look.

Tell us about your engagement shoot outfits and accessories.

For our engagement pictures, we wanted to be dressy casual, while staying true to who we are. I love that our outfits looked beautiful in these pictures.

Have you started planning your wedding? What is your wedding date?

I am sooooo excited! We are having a Mardi Gras themed wedding. I have so many ideas from a King Cake wedding cake to beads and masks for photo booth props, and of course a second line! And the date being the day before Valentine’s Day is just an added bonus!
