State Capitol Engagement in Mississippi

A blind date really CAN change your destiny, can’t it? It sounds so “romantic comedy starring Kate Hudson” or something, but for Mary Marie and Matt (I know, adorable, right?) this was real life. Her college best friends set her up and before they knew it, they ventured out on this fateful date and suddenly, wedding bells were in their midst. These Meridith Lee Photography e-session shots are utterly classic.

How did you meet?

Matt and I met through mutual friends. My best friends and roommates were friends with matt in high school. After college we all moved back to their hometown where Matt was also living. My friends thought we would be a good fit so they gave my number to matt. He asked me to go on a date and the rest is history!

What is your proposal story?

Matt told me we were going on a fancy date the following Friday night. He told me I needed to dress nice but he wanted to surprise me about where he was taking me! Friday night came and we drove to the Peabody hotel. When we got there we watched the march of the ducks and then he took me to dinner at a really nice restaurant called Chez Philippe located inside the Peabody.

During dinner I had to go to the bathroom and my zipper ended up getting broken on my desk. Thankfully the nice lady that was a hostess at the restaurant helped me pin my dress back together with safety pins! It was too funny! After dinner we went to the rooftop of the hotel and Matt got down on one knee and proposed! Soon after my friends and family all came out and we celebrated!

Tell us about the ring/band.

The ring is a double halo. The setting is 14K yellow gold and the total carat of the diamonds are 1.75. It is stunning!
