What started out as an impromptu couple photo session, ended with a ring and a big ‘YES!’ Fransisco got down on one knee on a shore in Maui to ask his love, Mikaela, to spend forever with him – and you’ll love her reaction. Sandy proposals are the best, right?!
How did you meet?
We met through a mutual friend during a beach day and dinner afterward. He found me on Facebook and messaged me saying he was interested in hanging out again. We went to an Art/Music festival about a week later and have been together ever since!
What is your proposal story?
My best friend was in town and we had been doing fun photo shoots together around the island. We still had one sunrise shoot to do and my now husband convinced me that it was her last day in town and we should go! We were taking couple pictures by the beach near my house and I turned around to find him down on one knee. It caught me by surprise!
Tell us about the ring/band.
My ring we found at a little shop in the resort area of Wailea. I loved the simplicity of the design, but the sparkle it gives off! Our wedding bands are from a local business on the island of Oahu. His is made out of real Koa wood and mother of pearl and mine is scrolled with traditional Hawaiian style.
Tell us about your engagement shoot outfits and accessories.
We were taking a beach shoot so we only had our normal beach wear on. I actually wanted to get some swimwear shots in and had already taken off the rest of my clothes for the actual proposal part. Oops!
Have you started planning your wedding? What is your wedding date?
Our wedding was at The Steeple House in Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii on March 31st 2019.
