Romanic Oceanside Engagement Session

Miranda and Quinn opted to do their engagement session at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington as well as along the Ruston way waterfront. They started out into something a bit more formal for beach, mountain and dock photos. Then they Changed into adorable matching outfits for photos in the mossy woods. These two are simply so adorable and a dream to document.

How did you meet?

Quinn and I met at Pacific Lutheran University. I was an active performer on campus, doing shows like the Vagina Monologues, and dance performances. I was also the captain of the PLU Dance Team. Quinn was the campus photographer. We had mutual friends in university, but the first time we met was because he took a photo of me performing for the paper and had asked for my name. In the theater it was pretty loud, and he couldn’t quite hear me, but was too nervous to ask again, so he took his best guess of my name for printing. It ended up being printed on the front page with the name “Brenda Winters” under it. My college roommate immediately cut it out and posted it to our dorm door thinking it was hilarious!

One day he walked up to my dinner table, I was sitting with some people who were mutual friends of us both, and I said to him cheekily “by the way you got my name wrong in the school newspaper”. I was just joking around, but Quinn turned bright red, and thought to himself, “well I’m never going to talk to her again, I blew it!”

We ended up working together professionally often through dance, and I hired him to take team and performance photos, and we got to know each other. He was always so wonderful to work with. One day, I was at a house party, and saw Quinn and said hello and gave him a big hug! He walked up to me later that night to say goodbye but ended up just saying “I think you are incredibly beautiful.” Then he left! He completely left the building! Quinn says he was thinking that to himself and when he realized he said it out loud he was shocked so he left. It was so sweet and unexpected, the way he said it still gives me butterflies.

He ended up asking me on a date, and gave me a tour of his hometown – Tacoma, all his favorite spots, and the rest is history! We clicked immediately and have been by each others side ever since.

What is your proposal story?

Quinn took me on a weekend getaway to his family cabin on beautiful Lummi Island in the San Juan’s. Lummi is his favorite place on earth. On October 25th 2019, on one of our favorite beaches, he asked me to marry him. It was such a sweet day! He said, “Miranda Crystal Winter, will you spend the rest of your life with me, now and beyond?” and of course I said yes!

After hugging, dancing, and contagious laughter on the beach, he had a little surprise, and took us out to celebrate! We got to experience the amazing dining at Lummi’s Islands Willows Inn, and stayed in one of their cabins to celebrate further. It was absolutely magical and joyful and perfect and so so us.

Tell us about the ring/band.

The ring was perfect, a gold band with rubies (my birthstone and a stone of love). He had 5 rubies on the ring, one ruby for each year we had been dating, and two gold bands that wrapped into one, like our lives coming together into one. His thoughtfulness behind why he chose the ring was so beautiful to learn.

Tell us about your engagement shoot outfits and accessories.

We decided to do two outfits for the shoot. A modern black dress for Miranda from Nordstrom, and a brown vest and pants for Quinn. We also wore matching flannels, (Miranda’s a dress) for a cozy very Seattle forest look. These are some of our favorite outfits in general to wear.
