Mississippi Engagement Session Steeped in Family History

We can’t keep our hands off of engagement sessions that contain the lines “family heirlooms” or when sweet ancestral homes are involved. That’s exactly the storyline we have here with Amber and Jonas’s Okolona, Mississippi session with Meridith Lee Photography. This house is where Jonas’s grandmother was born and raised and the porch of this house is where Jonas proposed. After swinging on the century-old swing, he happily popped the question to Amber and she happily said yes. Such a sweet continuation of history!

How did you meet?

We first met at a Redbull Flugtag event in Nashville and, thanks to mutual friends, kept meeting on weekend trips. We lived nearly 6 hours apart at the time, but a Memorial Day weekend on the lake and gorgeous double rainbow helped to seal the deal. I was already set to transfer job locations to be much closer to where he was working at the time. He drove 5 hours to take me to dinner for our first date and the rest is history!

What is your proposal story?

We were supposed to be meeting my parents for dinner, but Jonas kept skipping all of the exits into town that we should have taken. Jonas instead took me to the house his grandparents grew up in. When we arrived, the front porch was decorated with flowers and pictures of us. We sat on their 100 year old swing to talk, then Jonas got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Little did I know, both of our parents were hiding inside to surprise me. This proposal spot was chosen for our engagement pictures also. It’s such a special place for us both.

Tell us about the ring/band.

My engagement ring is an oval cut solitaire diamond on a yellow gold band. I’m all about classic looks, and he nailed this one!
