The level of “sweet” in Megan and Jacob’s engagement session is unbelievably endearing. What catches our hearts so much is the “first date” feel of their whole shoot. There’s butterflies, heartfelt moments, and ice cream, of course. The only difference is Megan’s beautiful halo cushion cut diamond ring. What a beauty!
How did you meet?
Jacob and I met through the dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel! We both had been pretty stubborn to the idea of “online dating” since we felt we were very social people and didn’t need to use an app or anything to find someone to spend our lives with. But of course once we both caved in and gave the app a try we found one another.
Later on we discovered that we both were each other’s first and only dates on the app. Every since we made that connection back in August of 2017 we have truly been inseparable ever since! There truly are no words to describe the love we have for one another, and it’s crazy to think that in a few short months we will be get to call one another husband and wife!
What is your proposal story?
On February 17, 2019, Jacob and I boarded our ship for a week long cruise in the Caribbean with his family. I was beyond excited as I had never been on a cruise before and I was looking forward to all of the adventures we would have. After the ship’s muster drill that afternoon, Jacob suggested we start getting ready early for dinner. Since we got ready so early, we decided to go for a walk around the upper deck of the ship and find a spot to watch the sunset. When we got to the upper deck we ran into a few members of our ‘cruise crew.’ Jacob’s aunt, Jill, and family friend, Katie, had just left the Sail Away party on the ship and were taking photos of the sunset.
We stood around chatting for awhile, and as I was about to ask Jacob if we could keep on walking around the deck, Jill asked us if we wanted our picture taken together. We both were dressed up and looking fancy, so I thought absolutely let’s take one! Jill started snapping away with photos when all of a sudden Jacob grabbed both of my hands, got down on one knee and proposed. I was in all sorts of shock that I initially asked him, “Really? This isn’t a joke?!” Of course, I said yes and could not wipe the smile off of my face for the rest of the cruise! Jacob pulled off the most beautiful surprise sunset proposal – we will cherish that moment forever.
Tell us about the ring/band.
My ring is a halo cushion cut diamond in the center. Small diamonds surround the border of the center diamond, and then the band also has detailing down the side of the band with those same small diamonds. It is a brilliant and shiny ring! I adore it.
