Driftwood Beach Engagement

Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island is a popular spot for engagements, and it’s easy to see why. The secluded beach is surrounded by majestic live oaks, and the driftwood creates a natural frame for photos. Plus, there’s something incredibly romantic about getting engaged surrounded by nature.

Kallie and Daniel’s Engagement Session on Driftwood Beach in Jekyll Island, GA could not have been more perfect. The search for shells amongst all the driftwood makes for an excellent backdrop location for an engagement session.

How did you meet?

We met our first summer at university in 2019 over a game of pool. I had lost the first game needed to play him again in order to gain victory. The next day group of our friends, including us, went to Swig. Both of us started talking about a local band that was playing and eventually got to play another game of pool. Turns out we had the same taste in entertainment and similar interests so we talking until midnight and went for a walk through the city. As we traversed the dim downtown streets, I found out his birthday was next week and was 3 days away from mine. We conjured up a list of 18 things he’s never done before to do over the next week since he was turning 18. Our walk turned into an all-nighter where we ended up at Denny’s eating waffles at 2 in the morning. Every day after that I saw him. After class, we would explore the buzzing city life, hike mountains to gaze at the stars, and decipher the university buildings that were mazes. Our steps sprawled across miles and our mouths parted hours of conversations. Every night was a late night spent talking on blankets laid out on grass hills. On my birthday, we spent the whole day in Salt Lake City. That’s when we started our journey together.

What is your proposal story?

Daniel took me out to Deer Creek Reservoir. We had been planning to do something on the water and decided to take a weekend in April to do so. When we arrived he took an inflatable kayak from the trunk which I didn’t know he rented. We kayaked out into the vast expanse of the reservoir and took a break on some rocks. That’s where he popped the question!

Tell us about the ring/band

The ring is an emerald-cut diamond set with a cathedral-style band in gold.

Tell us about your engagement shoot outfits and accessories.

I wore a soft blue dress from Club Monaco and would have paired it with creamy heels from DolceVita but it was so sandy that the beach became my footwear! For my second outfit, I paired a fitted J Crew shirt with linen pants from Reformation. All the jewelry I wore was handed down from my mother, minus the engagement ring. Daniel wore pants from Banana Republic and a white shirt from Uniqlo and for the second outfit a J Crew shirt with his favorite pair of jeans.
