When Karl wanted to propose to Camilla, there was no better place than to do it in the city she grew up in: The Eternal City, Rome. The pair would always celebrate the Christmas holidays with Camilla’s family, so it was a no-brainer to do it then with Andrea Matone Photography chronicling every step of the way. Karl picked the Orange Garden with its impressive view of The Vatican and Rome all in one. What a treat!
How did you meet?
We met in college at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. Camilla was planning to study abroad in CA, when her and her two friends found rooms available for rent in a house that my friends and I were living in. The three of them moved in and there was an immediate connection between us.
What is your proposal story?
We live in California, but spend Christmas each year with Camilla’s family in Rome, where she grew up. I wanted to propose in Rome so that we could celebrate with her friends and family. The Orange Garden was an easy choice because of its beautiful view of the city and the Vatican.
Tell us about the ring/band.
The Diamond is an oval cut and is set in rose gold. Years before I planned to propose, one of Camilla’s best friends jokingly asked what she would like, just in case I ever proposed. I am glad that she did, because Camilla loves her ring!
