Kristin and Mike’s session with Apollo Fields took them to some places that you would normally find “off the beaten path”. The pastel pink house is a gem of a find, and it scored even bigger points when it blended in so well with the colors of their session. Why can’t all engagement photos be this magical?!
How did you meet?
We met online, but our first date was at a bar in Huntington called Sapsuckers. This is also the town in which we got our first apartment together!
What is your proposal story?
It was a Friday evening in August and we had plans to go to dinner with friends in Kings Park after work. Little did I know this was all a cover! The Kings Park Bluff is a spot we went to more frequently when we first started dating, 5 years ago. We’d drive there to take in the view at the overlook or run my dog, Tucker along the beach in the off season. We have some special memories there.
I knew something was up when Mike suggested we go for a walk up this sandy dune path we’ve never ventured to when we were both dressed nicely for dinner. My friend texted saying she was running late so we had a little time. I was like “are you sure, we might get poison ivy.” Mike insisted so I (hesitantly) followed. We get to what appears to be the top and I see some rose petals scattered about which I definitely did not think were for me at first. A few more steps and we approach a romantic picnic set up, with twinkle lights and candles. I still don’t think I realized what was happening in this moment until he got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. Completely shocked, although I knew it was coming in the near future….I said yes! One my best friends who was supposed to be meeting us for dinner was hiding in the bushes capturing it all on camera. It was a moment I will truly never forget.
Tell us about the ring/band.
The diamond is a family heirloom from my great grandmother. It is a rose-cut more commonly known as an old mine cut. It was reset in a beautiful yellow gold half diamond band with white gold prongs. A classic and timeless look.
