Though she and Daniel reside in the Big Apple, bride-to-be Victoria instantly knew she wanted to shoot her engagement session in her home state of North Carolina. “Where the nature wasn’t manicured” was her goal and after finding it at Eno River State Park, the pair called upon Radian Photography to take a round of lovely shots. We’re swooning over the dreamy photos, the location, and how Victoria and Daniel are so effortless in front of the camera.
How did you meet?
We met at a party in Brooklyn through mutual friends.
What is your proposal story?
Daniel asked me one day if I wanted to go to Storm King in upstate New York. Storm King is a really amazing park that’s several hundred acres of forests, rolling hills, and mountains with amazing modern art installations and statues placed randomly through out. It almost looks like the art is growing out of the ground! We’d been dying to go for years so I said heck yeah! Two of our best friends went with us also. We got there and walked around for a while taking pictures and chatting when Daniel said “This is such a pretty spot, let’s get a picture here!” So we got in place and they kept taking so many pictures and I was telling our friends it was their turn for a picture!
Unbeknownst to me Daniel just couldn’t get the ring out of his pocket. So while I kept walking away and pushing our friends in the picture spot he finally freed it and everyone convinced me one more picture. Then he turned to me with tears in his eyes and proposed! I was so surprised! I had absolutely no idea and it was so special that two of our best friends got to be there and witness it. They took lots of pictures for us! We then went back to NYC and went to my favorite bar in the whole world. I showed up to all our friends there and my parents surprised me as well! It was truly such a special and perfect day.
Tell us about the ring/band.
Daniel had it custom made by our jeweler Kestenbaum and Weisner in New York. I knew I wanted a pear shaped stone because I love the classic, but a little different look. I wanted something timeless but I didn’t want it to look like everyone elses. Solitaires are my heart because they really let the stone shine. The stone he picked is truly stunning. I get acompliments almost everyday on my ring!
Tell us about your engagement shoot outfits and accessories.
I grew up in North Carolina and I love how the nature looks very wild in the most beautiful way! So I wanted to do the shoot somewhere where the nature wasn’t manicured. We went to Eno River State Park in Durham and it couldn’t have been more perfect. D and I were so blown away by the beauty of the park. We walked around in the river and on the hiking trails. So stunning!
