Blaine planned the SWEETEST surprise proposal at the Salamander Resort in Middleburg, VA. Not only did he put SO much detail and thought into it, but it was also on HIS birthday weekend. Blaine had both his family and Karys’ family come to surprise her for dinner following the proposal. Blaine and Karys were staying at the Salamander and Karys had absolutely no clue that they were coming! It was so sweet and Karys’ shocked face when seeing the families was priceless.
How did you meet?
Karys and I met through a mutual friend in March of 2014. I grew up in Winchester and had attended middle school with this friend and continued to stay in touch once she moved to Leesburg, where Karys is from. Our mutual friend introduced us to each other during our senior year of high school. We were quick to realize how much we enjoyed spending time together and decided to start dating shortly after. If it weren’t for Snapchat being so popular back in 2014, who knows where we’d be today!
What is your proposal story?
Karys and I were headed out to the Salamander Resort in Middleburg, Virginia to celebrate my birthday. We spent the day at the spa and poolside following our massages. While sitting at the pool, Karys asked me if I thought we’d be engaged a year from now. Knowing what I had in store for the rest of the evening, I was quick to reply, “I hope so!” Before dinner, we went to the bar to grab a drink and enjoy the outside amenities the Salamander has to offer. While outside, I proposed and Suzy was able to capture the moment. After I proposed, Suzy was able to shoot more pictures to help us remember this moment. Karys was already shocked with the proposal, but to top it off, I was able to surprise her once more by having our families show up during the session and have dinner with us. It was a special evening.
Tell us about the ring/band.
The ring was designed by Rich Spero at Dominion Jewelers in Falls Church, Virginia. The band is a14k white gold halo with diamonds going down the side. The diamond is a 1.6Ct Cushion Cut G Si

Karys is wearing a red floral dress from Free People and Guess wedges. Blaine is wearing a navy sport coat with brown pleated Brentwood trousers and a white oxford from Suit supply with Allen Edmonds Verona II loafers.

Our wedding will be on June 25, 2022 at Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, Virginia.
