Offbeat & Carefree National Park Engagement Session

The adventurous Virginia natives, Jessica and Amir, wanted something different from a traditional engagement session and that is exactly what they delivered! Acknowledging the current COVID crisis in their photos, they took Flit Photography and explored the rocky trails of Shenandoah National Park in a casual and carefree way. To top off a venturesome session, they ended the evening with a serene sunset looking off the mountain top. When you scroll through their photos you will see as well that you just can’t beat those colors.

How did you meet?

We were both enrolled and accepted into a Physical Therapist Assistance program for Fall of 2016. Amir walked into orientation right on time for Jess to notice him. The initial reactions were 1. His general appearance was very appealing and 2. That he was 5’9” while Jess stood at 5’10”. Amir claims to have the personality of a 5’11” guy, and that’s why he was able to pull off stealing Jess’ heart against the height odds. Jess immediately inserted herself into Amir’s study group to get to know him better, and the rest is history.

What is your proposal story?

We traveled to South Africa in January of 2020, right before quarantine! We were at the top of Blyde River Canyon (one of the deepest canyons in the world) for sightseeing on their first day abroad. We are both terrified of heights, but the group we were with wanted to take pictures close to the edge of the canyon. Jess tried to run back to safety after the pictures, but Amir said he wanted one with just the 2 of them, where Jess reluctantly agreed. After taking the couples picture, Jess tried to run away again, but Amir stopped her and got down on one knee. It was both romantic and exhilarating!

Have you started planning your wedding? What is your wedding date?
