Organic New York Engagement Session

Becky & Nick’s engagement session with Mindy Hulett Photo features a perfect balance between NY urban and organic greens. This session is fresh, inviting, and comforting. To all you New Yorkers, head to downtown Geneva for your photo ops!

How did you meet?

We met online, then shortly thereafter met up for lunch at a little local taqueria on the most bitter, cold December day. We went for a brief walk after lunch because we wanted to talk more, but the cold was so painful we said goodbye quickly after that. Nick and I immediately got along really well, and I knew either way we would be great friends.

What is your proposal story?

Nick planned for us to take a trip to our favorite winery, and he was pretty adamant that we stick to the plan that day, so I felt something was up (he’s a very flexible guy). It was absolutely gorgeous outside and the ride with incredible views was just amazing. The winery was not busy, so we had such a wonderful wine tasting to ourselves – the best ever, really. As we were leaving the building on the huge deck overlooking the vineyards and the lake, Nick said “Maybe we should get married here”, and I said “yeah, that would be nice”, so happy to hear him share that, and expecting a bit more to come. But nothing did in that moment, and we went inside, purchased our wine, and headed to the parking lot and our car. It was there he told me he wanted me to be his wife and asked me to marry him, very simply and in his own way. Of course I said yes, and was shocked and brought to tears that he had my mother’s ring, which means the world to me. We then got to celebrate by sharing with our families, who shared our joy and love.

Tell us about the ring/band.

The ring is a precious family heirloom, inherited from Becky’s mother, who is deceased. It is a yellow gold band with ivy leaves encompassing two diamonds and a very unique asymmetrical ruby from Burma.

Have you started planning your wedding? What is your wedding date?

Yes, we’ve actually had our wedding postponed once due to Covid, but we are scheduled for a small wedding on August 15th, 2020. It’s been a stressful process, but we’re so fortunate to be together and can’t wait to be married!
